Giddyup and go daddy, giddyup and GO: Ford vs. Ferrari

I have always hated car racing, but, o'boy, this was a good'n. I already went out on a limb and nailed Dolomite Is My Name best picture of the year, but dang it, we went and BOUGHT Ford vs. Ferrari. And, it was worth every penny. I yelled and threw up my arms the whole show. So, first off, everybody did their job. The editing was flawless. I had to keep reminding myself, "hey, this is a movie!"  Awesome color whether a close in on a straw cowboy hat or some 7K rpm go fast car race shots. "DaVinci Resolve was in use not only when grading the film later in post but also earlier in editorial to generate fast reviews and continuous visual effects updates. Somebody sure does remember what the fuck entertainment means and that is Rudy Ray Moore . This movie is all that and then some. Like writing a book where you keep wanting to turn the page and find out what happens next. Dolomite Is My Name is the true story of Rudy Ray Moore, the godfather of rap, literally credited with inventing rap with his witty dirty ditties. He self-made himself as a recording artist, a movie producer, a star and comedian. He was a showman, that's for sure. The movie does it right. Every film student ought to see this film about making film when film was made out of film. He did it all in the words of Eddie Murphy playing Rudy Ray Moore. When the crew needed food, he was in the kitchen fixing sandwiches. Whatever it took. And you can tell. As a former student myself, I watched a lot of black exploitation movies and studied the likes of Melviin Van Peebles who literally almost lost all his teeth making Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song.
